A Note from Lindsay…
Welcome to Willowglen 2008!

Boy howdy am I excited about this upcoming garden season. Why? With last winter’s consistent snow cover I’m expecting a high, high survival rate on all of our plants in the garden. We can also expect good soil moisture levels, at least in the early season, so why not get all excited about what should be another wonderful season of gardening?

I think it’s interesting that we’re seeing the words ‘green’ , ‘local’ , and ‘sustainable’ used everywhere this year. I mean everywhere—in garden magazines, books, & trade publications. I even saw an ad the other day for an oil company claiming their ‘greenness’ . These terms are being thrown around so loosely now that they are already starting to raise red flags for me. That’s why I have trouble using them myself. You see, at Willowglen we’ve always been green. We have always grown with an eye on sustainability. We grow our own plants right here so we’re pretty darn local and we literally spend hours a day hand watering our potted stock to avoid soaking 90% more area than we need to.

So when you start thinking about where to get your fix of plant goods this spring consider visiting someone who is as ‘green’ as can be and always has been. We’ve got lots of new varieties we’ll be offering this spring and as always are looking forward to seeing you.

Thanks in advance for shopping at Willowglen. Lee and I will be here ready to serve your gardening needs.
