There is an old traditional folk song that goes Tis a gift to be simple, tis a gift to be free, you probably know of it. Ive been singing it lately when I work with my plants and I think its apropos especially for gardeners because gardening, after all, is truly a simple pleasure. And thats something that we all could use a healthy dose of this year. We put plants in the soil, we water them in, and we watch them grow. There is nothing more gratifying than reaping the fruits of your own toil by seeing and enjoying beautiful flowers. And as the years go by our gardens essentially surround our lives with color, beauty and fragrance
Tis a gift to be free works for me too. Anyone who gardens knows that to be in your garden is to be as free as one can be. In your garden you make the choices, call the shots, you get to decide what to grow, what goes to the compost pile, how many of these and how few of those. Its like being King or Queen of your own domain.
Here at Willowglen we always work hard to help you grow a successful garden. We help by providing some of the healthiest and well grown perennials known in the region. We help by offering loads of advice and ideas about everything from
growing tips and tricks to design concepts. We also help through our gardens by demonstrating the pure and simple pleasure that gardening can be.
So be a King or Queen, be free in your garden and by all means plant a few new plants from Willowglen this year. Our plants are grown right here with lots of love and care.
Lee and I would like to invite all of you to come and share our gardens. We love your visits and thrill at the gifts that gardening brings to us all.
